The biggest Marlin

Thanks to the excellent specimens that can be fished in the Baja coasts, especially on Los Cabos, this city has been named: The marlin’s world capital. This time we will share with you a bit of the largest specimen of marlin that has been captured in recent history. This happened on Monday, September 26, 2011.

The author was the experienced fisherman Richard Biehl, aboard a 31-foot Black Fin fishing boat baptized as Go Deep, a boat piloted by Captain Luis Abaroa, the expedition sailed at 7 am on Sunday 25th with a total crew of 4 people and 60 pounds of line, from the first contact on Sunday afternoon, it was assumed that it was a large fish of minimum 700 pounds.

The capture lasted until Monday, the size of the fish caused for it to be brought about 28 hours in line until it finally succumbed to fatigue and could be half-boarded, this 30 miles from the Faro Viejo of Cabo San Lucas.

Given the magnitude of the specimen, a beautiful blue marlin, it did not fit in the boat and half the fish had to be left in the water during the way back of the ship to the Marina of Cabo San Lucas: 137 inches long, 75 inches in circumference and 1,213 pounds of weight.
